Law Enforcement Exploring provides educational training programs for young adults on the purposes, mission, and objectives of law enforcement. The program provides career orientation experiences, leadership opportunities, and community service activities. The primary goals of the program are to help young adults choose a career path within law enforcement and to challenge them to become responsible citizens of their communities and the nation.

The Putnam County Sheriff’s Cadet Program was formed as a chartered Law Enforcement Explorer program in 1967 by the late Sheriff Ray Weizenecker. Today the program boast a membership of approximately 85 uniformed cadets, who participate in numerous community events along side Uniformed Deputy Sheriffs.

Numerous members of the cadet corp. have gone on to become members of Law Enforcement agencies, the Armed Forces, and highly respected professionals throughout the country. Putnam County Sheriff’s Cadets are held to the same high standards as Deputy Sheriff’s stressing Dedication, Service, and Loyalty to the residents of Putnam County.patch
